Week 59…yeah yeah, I know, I need to update more.

Starting weight:  242

Currently weight:  158 +/- 3lbs

I know the +/- is bullshit, but I wanted to say I weighed in at 158 hehe.

So this month marks a year of working out straight, every single week.  We’re in Colorado Springs now and we have a rec center just down the street, so I’m not working out 5 times a week like I was starting to, but I’m in there at least 3 times.  They don’t have the equipment like Peterson’s base gym or even McChords, but it does ok.  Working out at 7k feet is a lot harder than I thought it would be.  When we got here right after Xmas, I went and did my 2 mile and pretty much thought I was going to die about 2 hours later.  Mike was already throwing up from the altitude sickness, but even our friends were like ‘are you f9cking crazy?’  So I don’t run like I used.  Actually, I don’t run at all. =(

20 minutes on the elliptical with weights is the bare minimum of what I do.  I do pilates twice a week and that’s really helped with my flexibility around my hips and pelvis.  With all the added weight, my right hip/pelvic muscle area had tightened up so bad that I couldn’t even sit criss-cross applesauce (i love kids and their terms) on the floor like I used to.  And let me tell you, put a little bit of a hamper in the bed department, I know you can dig it.  Although Pilates has really helped and I’m back to sitting on the ground like a first grader!  I’m down to a size 10 jean but if it wasn’t for the extra skin, I could get into an 8 no problem, I just don’t dig that muffin top =x  I can shop off the rack and I bought my first pair of shorts in…gosh, probably 10+ years yesterday.  Size 10.

One of the weird benefits of all this weight loss is Mike losing weight, too.  Since he came home from Korea, he’s lost 20lbs and he’s down to 188ish.  He hasn’t been that thin since high school.  Of course he runs 3+ miles a day, 5 days a week, but he’s crazy like that.  He’s adjusted to the altitude.  I think I have, but I’m putting off running and working on my ass and thighs on the elliptical.  I can rock a pair of jeans now, thank you very much.

I feel good.  In fact, I feel great – about myself, my marriage, my kiddos, and my life.  Colorado is turning out to be pretty cool, especially with friends in the area that we knew from Alaska, and some awesome neighbors.  I catch guys doing double takes at me and my husband is hot.  It used to be a question of ‘I’m happy enough’, but now?

I could not be happier.
